Thomas Jefferson on Goals Catholic Fit Moms for Life

Last week, I share a 5 Day Mindset Love Series , which I hope you had over to it and read through them. Not very long.

Mindset was  my missing puzzle on this whole-body wellness journey and once I start to really work on it, I was able to see results.  So I want to keep share these things that helped me. I want to share the wealth with you!

Ever thought that goals have different approaches?  Well, there are  “Avoid Goal” which means that we make a goal to avoid something.  Then there are  “Approach Goal” which means that we make a goal to approach something in a certain way.

When it comes to wellness journey, many times we make “avoid goals” instead of “approach goals”.

We most likely do not even realize that we are doing this, however “Avoid” goals are psychologically counterproductive.

Telling yourself to stop doing something almost guarantees you’ll keep doing it. No one likes to be told what to do.

I mean when I yell at the kids at times, say, don’t run.  Guess what they hear? Yeah, Run. So when I would tell myself, not to snack, I snack.

Let me share a few examples of Avoid vs Approach Goals…

  • Avoid Goal = Stop snacking past 8pm.
  • Approach Goal = Stock fridge with fruits and vegetable so that they are easy to grab.
  • Avoid Goal = Stop drinking soda.
  • Approach Goal = Drink a full glass of water with 3 meals a day.
  • Avoid Goal = Stop stress-eating.
  • Approach Goal = Come up with a list of stress-relieving activities that you enjoy. Then pick one activity from that list and do it.
  • Avoid Goal = Limit TV time in evening.
  • Approach Goal = Go to the gym 3 evenings a week.

It is all about going it at positive way. Learn the solutions, not just avoidance of things.

I pray that this post was in anyways helpful to you.  I really understand what it is to be so low on time and energy during the season of raising children that we can easy forget ourselves.
