I am going to be honest here. I have failed myself. I have failed you.
Last week, I share that God had been preparing me for these.
I guess I haven’t been well prepared as I thought. I have given into so many indulges in these two weeks that it has shown on the scale.
I should know better. I am advocator for real self-care, passionate about true wellness of body, mind, and soul.
Yet, I have failed in all those 3 areas.
I have given into self-indulgence. I haven’t take care.
This morning was an eye opener when I step on the scale and saw my numbers go up. I should of know better.
I have lack the self-care of movement and nutrition for my body, prayer and sacraments for the my soul, and calmness and clarity for my mind.
Yet, once again with God’s merciful love, He showers me this morning with His kind words and grace of Love in the words of St. Faustina. I have adapted them as my latest prayer.

Sometimes we might get self-care confused with self-indulgence and it just a good idea to know and remind yourself of the difference between them.
☕ 📗 Self-care is a strategy that helps you to deal with stress proactively. Some stress is good, it allows us to learn, grow, and get stronger. But too much stress is not good.
Self-care allows you to feel temporary stress that helps you to grow while caring for your whole self – physical, mental, and emotional.
🛌🏿 Self-comfort aims to ease the discomfort versus pushing you towards your goals – and will likely keep you right where you are.
If you keep doing what you have been doing, you will keep getting the same results.
📺 Self-indulgence is defined as the excessive or unrestrained gratification of one’s own appetites, desires, or whims.
Self-indulgent choices, when done often enough, will move you backward.
I started to really see these past 2 weeks that the more I choose comfortable choices, the less likely I will be able to make any progress towards my goals.
Ok, so I failed myself, but now I am getting up again, out of my comfort zone and accepting the challenges, progress, and change will happen for me!
I take a bit of my own advice about having a list to choose from when the thoughts of self-indulgence comes into play.
Here are a few examples of my self-care list:
- Choosing nutritious food more often than not, have two snacks ready to go.
- Drinking enough water, have a jug of water on the counter.
- Turning off the phone and place it away for an hour.
- Going for a walk.
- Reading something for 10 minutes that isn’t one of my normal go to books such as Jane Austen classics.
- Brush my teeths.
- See His goodness in my surrounding counting 5 blessings.
Let us encourage each other to use this time to learn, grow, be productive and rest – not overly indulge in behaviors that don’t serve us well.
With the Love of Christ,
Maria Cecilia
P.S. —- I am not sure if you have seen the video from a sweet Irish Priest begging people to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for those who are dying alone due to this pandemic.
After I saw his sweet video, I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t get over the thought of so many dying alone without us doing something about it. Something that we can do in the comfort of our own home, that something is praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet for the dying.
I was able to get in contact with Fr. Phillip and with his blessings and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, we created this site to get as many people as possible to promise to pray for the dying.
Please, I beg you go and sign up (its Free) and share! —– No One Dies Alone
