Sometimes life is just not what we thought it should be like. We are living in times that just make no sense at all.
As mothers, we feel the world on our shoulder and the children on our feet. We feel trape and just stuck.
We don’t know if to hide or fight. We are tired. What battles to win or which one to lose.
Where to start? Again. And Again.
We say wellness is a must but where does one start on that journey for either first time or for the 1000th time. Who do we follow? What diet? What challenge? Exercises? Yikes.
We know that we need strength to move the world off our shoulders and hold our children in our arms. But where does even start?
Why not look to Mary!
What did she do when the whole world was on her shoulder? She walk to Elizabeth.
Why not start walking?
Walking is a simple and inexpensive way to get active and lose weight. All you need is a pair of comfortable walking shoes and you can do it anywhere! It’s also fairly injury-proof, especially if you stay on flat paths and sidewalks.
Here’s why walking is so great:
🚶♀️Burn off calories
🚶♀️Strengthens lower body muscles
🚶♀️Lowers blood pressure
🚶♂️Helps control diabetes
⏲️ To really reap the benefits, you should start out walking at a slow pace for about five minutes. Once you have warmed up, then continue walking at a brisker pace. Do 5 minute intervals of each pace for as long as you can.
📆 Commit to walking a few times a week. Wake up early, walk around the block before you get the mail, etc. Find ways to squeeze in movement so that it becomes a habit that would be difficult to break.
📏 Research shows that just 2 1/2 hours of brisk walking a week, approximately 20 minutes a day, can help to reduce your stomach by about 1 inch in about 1 month.
You can do it alone, with a friend or even a group, a virtual one?
Want something to encourage you to walk? How about a Rise Up and Run 5k, Walk.
The Rise Up and Run 5K is the initiative of two friends (Melody and Brooke) seeking a way to RISE and to RUN, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
This virtual run/walk is a concrete way to lift our lives (physically and spiritually) in faith and praise.
So join me and so many on June 27th to RISE with us. Regardless of your energy level, your burdens, and your location, we invite you to the door of possibility to restart this journey or start it off with a walk.
Bring Mary and Her Beloved Jesus. Start with no fear!
As Jesus said: “Rise, and do not be afraid.”
Head over and sign up to rise up and begin your journey!
With the Love of Christ,
Maria Cecilia
